About us

The South East Kansas Humane Society of Crawford County Kansas began operation in 1973. The SEK Humane Society is a no-kill, non-profit 501(c)3 organization that rescues homeless and endangered pets in our area.

Its mission is to decrease animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment through promoting rescue, adoption, education, and population control.

The shelter is a no-kill facility usually at capacity with approximately 100 animals and we need your help. Please provide a safe home or donate your time or money to help provide care for these animals.

The adoption fee for dogs/puppies is $65.00 and $45.00 for cats/kittens. All shelter animals have been: spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, wormed, flea treated, and given their round of shots.

Maximum Capacity

The SEK Humane Society is currently at FULL CAPACITY! All of our kennels and now lobbies are full of sweet canines that are looking to find their new homes. Due to us being at full capacity, we can NOT intake currently at this time.

If you have been considering adoption, now is a great time as most of our dogs have NO ADOPTION FEE! We even offer foster-to-adopt trials with most of our animals. All of our adoptable dogs and cats are already spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, and up to date on vaccinations. By adopting from our no-kill animal shelter, you're helping save TWO LIVES. One for your new forever buddy and the second being the animal that takes in their empty space.
